YOU WOULDN’T HIRE ME AS AN ENGINEER, BUT I’M THE SPANISH TEACHER FOR ENGINEERS YOU ACTUALLY NEED

Download the guide to words that are the same in Spanish and English

You work as an engineer in Málaga, a fantastic city. Pretty amazing, right?

Everyone in Málaga speaks English, so you don’t really need Spanish.

Or do you?

I’m Carlos de la Vega, a Telecommunications Engineer.

My background in the tech sector is exactly what will help you master the professional Spanish you actually need—the kind they don’t teach in standard academies.

You work in tech, so your company’s clients speak English, whether they’re from Spain or anywhere else.

Your colleagues speak English. Or at least that’s what their CVs say.

Most restaurants and shops get by just fine if you speak English.

Even when you are invited to a barbecue, people speak to you in English, including Spaniards.

So, you don’t see the point in struggling with Spanish when you can do everything in English.

Why make life harder for yourself?

But what if learning Spanish doesn’t complicate your life, and actually does the opposite?

I can assure you that in your industry, it’s rare to come across a client who doesn’t speak English.

But if you can talk to a local client in Spanish, trust me, you’ll be worth a lot more to your company.

You won’t just be another foreign employee. You become the professional that the client can actually talk to in Spanish when he has questions or runs into problems.

That makes a real difference. Doing good work matters too, of course.

Any international company wants engineers who are strong in English for the global side of things, and can hold their own in Spanish locally.

When a company faces restructuring or layoffs, they keep the person who bridges the gap between the office and the local market.

Or maybe you’re the one looking to move to a company that offers better conditions and a better salary. Speaking Spanish will set you apart from other engineers and stop you from losing out on opportunities.

But that’s not all.

Your Spanish colleagues speak English with you.

English is non-negotiable in any industry today. If you don’t speak it, you fall behind; that’s just a fact.

But when your Spanish colleagues talk to each other, they switch to Spanish.

And I’m willing to bet this makes you feel like an outsider sometimes.

Being able to chat with your colleagues in Spanish will help you build a real connection with them, not just a working one.

There are many ways to learn Spanish grammar.

And yes, grammar matters. But for you, it’s not enough on its own.

Hardly anyone teaches you the specific technical vocabulary and the expressions you actually need in your job as an engineer.

And that makes sense — the tech industry is a very specific world, full of terms a standard Spanish teacher has never come across.

Unless your Spanish teacher is also an engineer with real experience in the sector.

If you are a…

  • IT technician
  • software developer
  • engineer
  • architect

…these classes are for you.

In these online classes, you will:

  • learn the specific vocabulary used in technical environments
  • become familiar with the expressions you will hear and use at work

To make sure you truly understand and absorb what you learn in class, you won’t just be reading and listening.

You’ll repeat and practise actively with me, exactly the way you’ll use Spanish with your colleagues and clients.

This will help you shake off the nerves and build real confidence.

It’s the best way to make sure what you learn in class actually works in the real world.

Speaking Spanish at work will set you apart and make you a more valuable member of your company.

These lessons are for people working in the tech industry who live in Málaga and need to learn technical Spanish for their job.

If you’re a:

  • IT technician
  • software developer
  • engineer
  • architect

these lessons are for you.

They’re one-to-one online lessons.

We’ll be working over Zoom. You don’t have to install the app on your computer, but it’s recommended.

You can buy individual lessons or a pack of 10.

Both options are available right here on the website, in the «Book your lessons» section.

Before you buy, I’d recommend getting in touch with me first, to make sure these classes are the right fit for you and to sort out a schedule that works for both of us.

My focus is on engineers living in Málaga — the city is going through a huge boom in tech companies, and it’s also where I’m based.

That said, the classes are online, so you can join from anywhere in the world.

To get the most out of these lessons, it is recommended that you have at least an intermediate level of Spanish.

If you are starting from scratch, I would recommend learning the basics first.

Do not worry, I can help you with that too. Just ask me.

Just a computer, an internet connection, a webcam, and a mic. I’m sure that’s not an issue for someone in your field.

You’ll also need the drive to learn and put in the work.

I’ll provide all the materials we’ll be using in class.

The main goal of these lessons isn’t to focus on Spanish grammar, but everything you learn will inevitably involve it.

During the lessons, I’ll correct the mistakes I pick up on as we go.

There’s no point having a strong grasp of technical vocabulary if the rest of your Spanish is letting you down.

You can cancel up to 24 hours before the lesson is due to start.

If you cancel with less notice than that, the lesson will still be charged.
